Hi!  My name is Red Hawk. I'm a 23 year old Red Roan and came to J.A.M.E.S. as a permanent retirement horse.  I served with the 30th Security Forces Squadron's Mounted Unit at Vandenberg Air Force Base from 1998-2002 and was named after their symbol, the Redtail Hawk.

I patrolled the base with my handler, Staff Sgt. Wayne Moses, to protect critical habitat and wildlife species as well as performing beach sweeps prior to launches, crowd control during demonstrations and visited local schools.  I think I'm most proud of my participation in the Special Operations training with the U.S. Navy Seals.

The mountainous terrain and coastal sand became too much for my arthritic legs and since I had served my country faithfully,  it was decided that I retire in a relaxing and comfortable home.

I was adopted last year by Ron & Fran's daughter, Jenny, and if I do say so, we make a pretty handsome couple!
