WHAT IS J.A.M.E.S.?

J.A.M.E.S. is the acronym for the Jack Auchterlonie Memorial Equine Sanctuary. We are a non-profit organization located on 10 acres in the high desert community of 29 Palms, CA. offering rescue, charitable refuge and rehabilitation for abandoned, abused, neglected, unwanted or retired equine.

OUR MISSION

J.A.M.E.S. was founded with one purpose in mind - to rescue and provide a safe house for horses in need. We are not breed specific and will accept all equines, regardless of breed, age or condition. Our belief is that every horse deserves a life with proper care, whether it be with J.A.M.E.S. as a retired or companion horse or being placed with a caring, responsible adoptive family.

Each horse is provided shelter, proper diet, constant water access, exercise as appropriate, professional veterinary/farrier care and most importantly, love. Great effort is made to rehabilitate each animal and basic training (or a "refresher" course) in acceptable ground manners will also be furnished to ready the horse for adoption.

J.A.M.E.S. is dedicated to providing a safe and healthy environment for neglected, abused or unwanted equine animals. We ask no questions nor do we reproach those who, for whatever reason, wish to place a horse with us. Our concern is strictly for the care and well being of the animal itself.
